Amazing article! That alternate card backing is so cool. I can see why they didn’t implement that in the game (predictable card draws), but part of me wishes that every set had its own unique card backing.
Thanks! The card backs would have prevented Magic from growing into what it is today, for sure. But now with sleeving being mandatory it may not matter much.
Really good overview of this expansion! I remember seeing some Arabian Nights cards when I was started MTG, but it wasn't easy to find them for sale (I'm not based in the US, so maybe that's why. Your posts are really reigniting my love for MTG!
Regarding the Bazaar of Baghdad however, other places like Cairo and Alexandria are also real world places (in Egipt) ;)

Yeah, good point! I didn't think about "Ali from Cairo" or "Library of Alexandria" also being explicit.
