Welcome to MTG Card of the Day, where I show off one rad-as-heck Magic: the Gathering card, explain what I think makes it so cool, and share some interesting facts.
It can be interesting in MTG specifically though, if you're in a play environment that benefits from having lots of cards in your or your opponent's graveyard.
My wife will always rage quit when I play a mill deck. She says there's no point and that playing with a mill deck is tantamount to saying "I don't want to play this game" lol
Oh man - I had no idea this is where the term Mill deck came from! So cool to learn about! Mill decks were a big deal when I was playing Star Wars: Destiny competitively - hated them, haha!
Paperwave continues to be a highlight of my week! Great work Justin! :)
Although it's not that great for milling out your opponents these days, it actually has some niche uses as a self mill card in formats like commander!
I love how a mechanic can have so many different uses depending on your decks synergies. Mill was no doubt thought up as a win condition to take down opponents, but these days milling yourself can be just as an effective of a strategy. Pretty cool stuff.
Playing a mill deck can be fun, but playing against one isn't, so I try not to use them. Interesting to see where the term came from!
Agreed.

True, that would be a great counter

It's not a great look in a casual play environment.
